KEEPING U SAFE! : Moving and handling

Handle with Care

Keeping U Safe logo.jpg

The Ceramic Industry Learning Network is delighted to announce a NEW training film about safe moving and handling!  Handle with Care was produced in conjunction with our industry’s Health & Safety specialists.

Good posture 2.jpgIt’s the first of a planned series of several short films under the banner Keeping U Safe!

What is it about?

The film takes place in a ceramic manufacturing company.  It covers all aspects of safe moving and handling, including…

·         What moving and handling is and associated hazards

·         Moving and handling injuries and how to prevent these

·         How to avoid moving and handling

·         Good lifting, carrying and unloading techniques

·         Good ‘pushing and pulling’ techniques

Poor moving and handling accounts for 11% of major accidents and nearly half of ‘over 3 days injuries’ in the ceramics industry.  Our aim is to help reduce accidents and injuries!

Who is it aimed at?

Everyone who moves and handles goods and materials as part of their work.  The film is used in Induction and Health & Safety training as a ‘best practice’ learning tool.  There’s also an e-learning module and Quiz here on www.cilnweb.co.uk so people can check what they have learned!

Measures of success…?

dont flex back with red x.jpgFewer / reduced accidents and injuries caused by poor moving and handling.
